Canada Summary and off to Alaskan Adventures..

Since my last update I have had two races and a lot of good skiing on the Olympic trails. I am now sitting in the Seattle Airport waiting for my flight to get out of here to take me to Fairbanks. The two races I am referring to are the 15k skate and the skate sprints. The skate race did not go so well for me. I was feeling a bit tired from the start and the conditions were crazy. It was snowing and I could not see the trails. The trails were also falling apart in the worst kind of way. Giant holes were forming all over the course and there was one narrow path that snaked it's way around the race course where the snow was fast. I felt I could not get my edge in anywhere and was being thrown all over the place, I could not relax and race. I ended up way off where I wanted to be finishing. The final race for me was the sprint. I ended up 31st at just .05 seconds out of 30th. Since I was not in the top 30 I was not able to move on into the rounds, it was a little bit of a bummer. The race field was really strong and it was cool to watch all the heats. The A final was almost at a World Cup quality with world champions and olympic champions all battling it out for the win.

The week ended with the 50k classic, I did not race, so i could rest up for this week. Brent did the racing for me and finished an awesome 9th place, it was amazing to watch and Torin Koos skid an incredible race to fight it out with Ivan Babikov. Lots of new snow made the waxing fun, I think most racers went on harries.

Now I am racing a 10k skate on tuesday night, then a classic sprint on wednesday night. To conclude the season I will race the 30k pursuit on friday and a 50k classic on sunday...fun fun fun and more to come.
