Feb 10, 2009- Warm weather and pondering...
I am here now in Waukesha WI, about 50 miles east of Madison. I have a sweet free place to stay and the training was perfect. This weekend I traveled over to Grand Rapids Michigan to visit almost all of my mom's family who I have not seen in the last 8 years so it was a trip that needed to be doing, I had a lot of catching up to do. Then yesterday I need to get back to training so I drove the 5 hours back here and was a little bummed when I arrived because so much snow had melted since I had been here 3 days earlier. I was going to go for a long ski when I got back, but I was not really in the mood to get into the car again and go snow hunting so I just went for an hour run to stretch out the body a bit. Last night it was raining when I went to bed and today when I got up it was already 50 degrees and very sunny, some would say that this is perfect for February, but being a skier and needing snow for another week down here it is not so nice. Today I am finaly heading out for my snow hunt, I have a couple of ski areas that might have some potential, so until I find out more. Enjoy the cold if you have it, and if it is getting too warm out and the sun is hot try to get a sun burn, that is my goal for today at least...

Feb 4, 2009- Time to recover from racing and get the body feeling good agian....
Here is a little bit about the first 3 races last week and what I have been up to: Hello from the road, I am now 7 days into my 32 day ski trip... And a quick update on the last two races in Telemark and what my plans are for the next week or so. Currently I am staying in Waukesha WI, which is about a 50 mile drive east of Madison where my next races will be held in a week and a half. As for my last couple of races: In the 10k classic I thought that maybe I would be able to have a sweet race and if things went real well I could be on the top of the list. Well I felt like crap, I was suffering pretty much the whole way and could not really race, I ended up 15th, which was not where I should be at any time. So then I went into the 10k skate I was feeling like I would have a good race, I have been skiing well in mass start races this season and this was a good course for staying together till the end. Well I was not comfortable from the start. Normaly I am fine handling myself in a large pack, but this time I was all over the place and just not able to ski very clean. I was almost freeking out because I could not move up in the pack and when we were finaly down to about 20 guys about halfway through the first lap I started having trouble on the back, I felt like I was just going slower and slower. In the end I was 18th. OUCH.... I have decided that my body just needs a couple of easy days to get back recovered then I will be fine and racing well again. I have some great skiing here and I should be able to get in a few 3 hr skis this next week. It will be nice and I will be ready for all my upcoming races. . . .

Jan. 24, 2009- 5th in 10k classic 10k classic today in Itasca, I finished a solid 5th, it was not a great race, but it was a good one. I felt pretty bad the first lap then on the second lap I was able to ski a little stronger. It always seems to be the way it is for me when I travel, I get better every race. Dave Chamberlain was the winner today with Chris Cook 1 second back. I was 25 seconds out of 1st so I feel that if I have a good race tomorrow I will be a little higher on the results. Tomorrow is a 10k skate so it should be fun with some good steep climbing on the first portion of the course. We got a couple of temperature delays today and ended up racing by 1:00 in the afternoon so it was a nice and relaxed morning. The high temp for the day was -2F. I like open doors....

I am now planning my big trip for the season after an eventfull early season of racing and cancelations. Yellowstone went well for me and then I had a couple of solid Besh Cup races here in Alasaka. I was perfectly set up for US Nationals in Anchorage and for the races we were able to pull off I was able to ski up to my expectations which was nice....

July 23, 2008-32 Hours of FUN... Eagle Glacier skiing with APU usually means that I am going to ski a lot and get very tired. That is just what I did by putting down my largest training week of all time with about 32 hours, WOW, I did not think I could do it, but it just got easier and easier as the week progressed. By the end I could ski hard for a couple of hours and feel good about it. At about an hour and a half my body would start to turn on and I could go as fast as I wanted for a good deal of time....
