Sprint weekend!!!

The sprint weekend is now over and it is time for the next period of training and racing. I had a good weekend. It could have always been better, I was feeling very good and knew that I have what it takes to be on top. I had a couple of tactical errors in the skate sprint on saturday. Then on sunday Anders Haugen and I started out great by winning our semifinal heat without trying too hard. In the final we were in a good position, but on the first lap we had some wax issues and fell behind and could never really bring it back.

In the individual sprints on saturday I ended up qualifying 18th and got a close 3rd in my quarterfinal heat. I almost got the lucky looser spot to move on, but I was not quite fast enough. I was feeling very strong though. I ended the day in 14th overall so that was solid. I need to be in the A final next year.

The relay on sunday started off very well then in the final heat starting with our kick issues we battled the whole way, but we just did not have the same skis we had in the early part of the day and we ended up 12th. It is too bad because I was feeling really good and I know we could have been top 5 with good skis the whole way. The coaches did an amazing job at re waxing our skis in record time mid race so for the last bit of the race our skis were great. I missed out on the World Cup in Canada by a couple of points so it was very close.

I did end up qualifying for the U23 World Championships in Poland which is taking place on the first week of February. It should be pretty exciting, I have never been to Poland. More to come later, I am needing to get packed up so I can get back to Alaska for some training and racing to get ready for U23s....
